Jason Hogan named QB coach for Carabins

Montreal, July 23, 2018 – The University of Montreal’s Carabins football team completes its attacking coaching staff for the 2018 season with the arrival of Jason Hogan as quarterback coach.

This appointment follows recent changes announced as a result of Marco Iadeluca’s decision to join André Grasset’s administration administrative staff. Remember that the latter remains with the Blues in 2018 to support the new offensive coordinator Gabriel Cousineau.

Hogan finds head coach Danny Maciocia with whom he worked closely with André-Grasset in 2010 as a quarterback coach. Following his career in the professional ranks, Maciocia worked there for one season as offensive coordinator. The Phoenix had won the first Bol d’Or in its history.

“I will not hide the fact that having the opportunity to work again with Danny (Maciocia), in a team as established as the Carabins, is one of the main reasons that led me to take this initiative. decision, “said Hogan, who was named offensive coordinator of Sherbrooke’s Vert & Or last January.

“It’s someone I really trust, which is important for success collectively. His vision of football, his preparation and his professional approach marked me a lot and I am very happy to be able to continue my apprenticeship with him. I’m also looking forward to working with the other Carabin coaches, and I hear a lot of good things about them. ”

Note that Hogan is also familiar with Iadeluca, who was his offensive coordinator while he was a quarterback with the St-Leonard Cougars in 2007 and 2008, and as a quarterback coach at André-Grasset. in 2009.

“The other important thing for me is that I am also getting closer to my family, including my spouse, who works in Montreal and who could not follow me to Sherbrooke, as well as my parents. ”

“I have absolutely nothing negative to say about the organization of Vert & Or,” added Hogan. I had already established very good relationships with people who work extremely hard. However, as I always say to my players, it is important to seize the opportunities available to us because we never know when they will reproduce, although I am obviously aware that the moment involved creates upheaval. ”

During his coaching career, Hogan worked for André Grasset for six years as offensive coordinator and / or quarterback coach, winning three Bols d’Or. In 2016 and 2017, he made the leap in the professional ranks with the Montreal Alouettes, first as a quality control coach in attack and then as a receivers coach and defensive assistant.

“I’ve known Jason for a few years and there’s no doubt that his expertise and varied experience will be a great help to our coaches and players,” said Danny Maciocia. I recently spoke with Noel Thorpe and Anthony Calvillo, with whom Jason worked at the Alouettes, and they both recommended hiring him. He is a coach who has a whole future ahead of him in football. ”

“I already know a lot of Carabin players and I’m very excited to start at UdeM and get to know others, including the quarterbacks I’ll spend a lot of hours with,” Hogan concluded. ”

Training camp for the 2018 season starts August 10.
