Reporting to the Manager of Athletics, the incumbent will be responsible for the successful operation of the varsity football program by delivering on five key priorities: Coaching and coach development, Strategic planning, Recruiting, Alumni Relations, and Fundraising. Leadership skills, recruitment strategies, fundraising potential and a demonstrated ability to develop a strong football program are essential characteristics of this position. This position is for a 3 year term with possibility of renewal based on performance results and objectives.

The Head Football Coach manages a staff of two full-time coaches and approximately ten part-time coaches and staff. He manages an annual budget of $350,000for the football program and is also responsible for the running of the Gaiter Football School. He will develop and implement, in collaboration with the recruitment office, a strategic plan for the recruitment of student-athletes who excel both in the classroom and on the field.

Nature of duties and responsibilities

Responsible for all practice and game plan preparations and implementation; Responsible for the coordination and coaching of a unit and or position; Responsible for the hiring, supervision, management and performance review of all football staff; Monitors the academic progress of student-athletes; Develops and implements yearly and long-range plans for the football program; Collaborates with the Advancement Office to develop and implement a fundraising strategy; Represents Bishop’s University at both the Conference and national football coaches committees;Other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

Minimum 5 years coaching experience at the college, junior, university or professional level, Proven leadership and management skills;Level III National Coaching Certification, an asset; Proven success in recruiting student athletes; Ability to liaise with other University departments and services; Willingness to work outside of regular office hours; Knowledge of English and French languages, written and spoken, is an asset.

Salary Range: ($54,964 to $71,726)
