KINGSTON, Ont. (March 12, 2012) – Queen’s football head coach Pat Sheahan is pleased to announce that top recruit Jordan Comtois of Montreal has signed a letter of intent to play for the Gaels starting in the 2012 season.

β€œI am delighted today to welcome another outstanding player to Queen’s Jordan Comtois who will don the tri-colours for the next four years,” said head coach Sheahan. “He has exactly the profile that we are looking for here at Queen’s, he has great speed and plays the game very physically and is going to add a lot to our defense.”

“Jordan is physically mature, he’s fast, strong and has a great football acumen. This addition is only going to help our chances next year, we are graduating a couple of outstanding players off of our defense this year so we were excited to be able to secure a guy like Jordan to come in and help us.”

Comtois is a 6-foot-2, 200 pound defensive back who joins the Gaels out of the Champlain Lennoxville CEGEP football program. He was considered one of the top recruits available this year and will join fellow football recruits, wide receiver Doug Corby of Burlington, Ont. and offensive lineman Daniel Hayes of Waterloo, Ont., as the newest members of the Queen’s Gaels.

As a CEGEP AAA academic merit winner and Champlain’s student athlete of the year, Comtois finished second in the league in interceptions with five, while adding 39 tackles and two sacks for the Champlain Lennoxville football program.

“I remember after visiting Queen’s I was really happy about my trip,” said Comtois. “I like the team and the coaches and after having a chance to spend some time with the guys I think it’s a great team and will be a great fit for me.”

“I’d like to leave my mark here at Queen’s and just be an important player who can help the team to be successful.”

Comtois is set to enroll at Queen’s for the 2012-13 school year with aspirations to pursue a law degree.

The Gaels will kick off their 2012 season when they host the York Lions on Monday September 3 at Richardson Stadium.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
