Josh Sacobie to be inducted into the New Brunswick Aboriginal Sport Hall of Fame

The New Brunswick Aboriginal Sport and Recreation Authority (NBASRA) has announced that Josh Sacobie (Fredericton, NB) has been nominated for induction into the New Brunswick Aboriginal Sport Hall of Fame`s (NBASHOF) inaugural class.

The former starting quarterback for the University of Ottawa Gee Gees established himself as one of the most successful players in Canadian university football history. He was selected three-times as University Male Athlete of the Year, named twice to the All-Canadian Football Team, and voted Most Valuable Player five-consecutive years by his teammates, all while becoming the school’s all-time leading passer. In 2007, Josh helped his team to an undefeated season of 8-0 and was a Hec Crighton candidate as Canadian University Player of the Year.

In 2011, he was selected to Canada’s National Team and participated in the International Federation of American Football (IFAF) World Championship in Vienna, Austria winning silver.

Josh was also named in 2010 as the offensive coordinator for the Canadian Women’s National Team that participated in the IFAF World Championship in Stockholm, Sweden. The team won silver.

Currently Josh is employed at Football Canada as the Technical Coordinator and volunteers his time to Gen 7 an Aboriginal Youth Program.
