Jr Lords defeat Blessed Trinity in Metro Bowl semi-final

The Junior Nelson Lords used a strong first half performance to cruise to a 28-6 Semi-Final win over Grimsby’s Blessed Trinity Thunder.

Nelson opened the scoring on a 15 yard touchdown pass from Colin Barber to Michael Lehmann early in the first quarter.

The Lords would add to their lead right away with a touchdown run from Zach Ihasz to make it 14-0 in the first quarter.

It remained all Nelson early as Barber would hook up, this time with Liam Evenson, for a touchdown catch and a 21-0 lead. The Thunder would get on the board just before halftime with a touchdown run but the Lords would block the convert.

Neither team could muster much offence in the second half with the only scoring coming on a 1-yard touchdown plunge from Zach Ihasz with two minutes remaining to seal the victory.

The win advances Nelson to their third Jr Metrobowl Championship. The game kicks off Wednesday at 1pm.

Jake Mitchell was named Nelson’s Game MVP as the Lords are the Southwest Region Champions!
