Junior: BCFC has 12 records broken this year

It was a record breaking year in the British Columbia Football Conference in 2010 as no less than 12 new records were set. Two of the 12 records were also new Canadian Junior Football League marks.

The records set in 2010 are:

New Single Season Records:

Most Receiving Yards – 1,179 – Mike Schaper (right) – VI Raiders (new BCFC and CJFL record)

Most Pass Completions – 182 – Jordan Yantz VI Raiders (new BCFC record – 2nd best CJFL)

Best Completion Percentage – 64.1% – Jordan Yantz – VI Raiders (ties BCFC record with Tom Clancy 1990 Surrey Rams

Longest field goal in a game – 57 yards – Steven Shott – Okanagan Sun (New CJFL and BCFC record)

Most kickoffs in a season – 79 – Mark Mueller – VI Raiders (ties his own BCFC record that he set in 2009)

Most Special Team Assisted Tackles in a season – 7 – Andreas Iwanegbe VI Raiders (new BCFC record – old record 6)

All-Time Career Records:

BCFC Receptions – 167 – Matt Scheurwater (right) Okanagan Sun

BCFC Receiving Yards ā€“ 3,034 – Matt Scheurwater Okanagan Sun

BCFC Punt Return Average – 19.0 – Nick Downey South Surrey Rams (old career mark was 18.6 by James Green of the Okanagan Sun)

Kick-off Returns – 87 – Ben Skerrett Chilliwack Huskers

Return Yardage -1,875 – Ben Skerrett Chilliwack Huskers

Team Record:

The Okanagan Sun set a new team record for first place finishes – 17th time that they’ve finished in first place in the final league standings. Old BCFC record of 16 was held by the Vancouver Blue Bombers.

The BCFC will host its two Semi-Final games this weekend as the #2 VI Raiders host the #3 South Surrey Rams on Saturday afternoon. Then Thanksgiving Sunday the #1 Okanagan Sun will host the #4 Victoria Rebels.
