Kelowna recruit “jumped at the opportunity” to sign with X-Men (VIDEO)

Kelowna quatrterback joins AUS team’s 2016 class.

Tyler Toic is migrating from one coast to another to begin the next phase of his gridiron career.

The 6’2, 180 pound quarterback from Kelowna, British Columbia signed with StFX X-Men.  Toic will join the team for the 2016 AUS season.

“The factors for me choosing STFX is how helpful and honest they are; the coaching staff is always available to answer any questions,” explained the pivot of his decision.  “Also the chance to further my education through football isn’t a chance that comes everyday so I jumped at the opportunity.”

“I’ve heard great things about there academics and there overall football program. I’ve talked to many people about Antigonish and they all go on about how beautiful of a place it is. My parents were in communication with the coaching staff through the whole process which made the decision very easy.”

A native of Brantford, Ontario, Toic moved to Kelowna when he was five years old.  He began his gridiron journey at a young age with Westsyde Sun Devils.  During his time there, the offensive standout played at the running back position.

For the past four seasons, Toic has been a quarterback with the Mount Boucherie Bears of the British Columbia High School Football Association (BCHSFA). This past fall, he completed 106 passes in 197 attempts for 1672 yards and 18 touchdowns which made him the leading passer.  In his final game against South Delta Sun Devils, Toic broke a single game record with 492 yards and seven touchdowns.
