Knocking on opportunity

CFC TOP 100 offensive lineman becomes first recruit for RSEQ team’s 2014 class.

He wants to be a part of history.

Ultimately, Marc-Olivier Perreault decided that one school will fufill this goal.  This past week, the 6’3,307 pound offensive lineman committed to Sherbrooke Vert et Or for the 2014 RSEQ season.

The academic, football and atmospheric atmospheres were two of the main reasons why CFC TOP 100 Perreault chose the school.  With football, timing is everything and the offensive lineman will arrive at just the right moment.

“The administration program was really nice and the co-op program was also very interesting,” explained Perreault of his decision.  “The school establishment is also very good so I can have good results while playing football.”

“I also like the coaching staff and the team spirit that is a bit like here in Beauce-Appalaches. It was also a good timing for my position (offensive lineman) to battle to be a starter next season.  I think Sherbrooke is becoming one of the best football programs in Canada and they are on the right way to win a Vanier Cup and I want to be part of it. I want to make history.”

The native of Saint Jerome, Quebec is currently playing for CEGEP Division 2 team, Beauche-Appalaches Condors. Head Coach Christian Audet has instructed the offensive lineman since his arrival in 2011 and said that he possesses a lot of qualities that will be assets for the Vert et Or.

“Marc is a very good student of the game, knows the game very well and is very coachable,” commented Audet.  “He can bring maturity and confidence to the team directly in his first year.”

“I think he can contribute to the team in his first season at the university level.”

Audet assessed his physical and mental skills which will help him succeed with the Vert et Or on the RSEQ and CIS stage.

“Physically, he has a very good work ethic and is committed to getting better every day so physically he is prepared to play at the next level,” evaluated the Condors Head Coach.  “He will certainly be ready mentally also to be part of the starting roster of Sherbrooke next year.”

Previous to the Condors, Perreault suited up for the Laurentian Wildcats from 2005-2010.  Additionally, the Quebec offensive lineman has represented his home province on national and provincial stages throughout his career.  In 2011, Perreault guided Team Quebec to a gold medal victory at the Football Canada Cup tournament in Lethbridge, Alberta.  For three consecutive teams, he has also participated in the Wilson Challenge (2008-2010 inclusively).

Perreault has been ranked on CFC’s TOP 100 twice – in the recent rankings dated August 26th  and March 22nd this past year.
