Windsor welcomes and out-of-province commit to their Class of 2017.
Balancing school and sport can be a difficult task, but if youāre like Leon Kyoya, a wide receiver from the Handsworth Secondary School, you will find a way to make both your aspirations come true.
Kyoya may fly around the field, but now he will have a chance to learn how to control an actual aircraft while taking Aeronautic Leadership at Windsor. āI chose to go to Windsor because the coaches cared for my education. Going into aeronautics/aviation, you have a rigorous time schedule. But, they were willing to work around my schedule,ā he said.
āThe coaches are great. They really care about you on and off the field. Head Coach DāAmore is a great guy and I feel like I can really be successful at the University of Windsor,ā Kyoya added.
The former Handsworth Royal (BC Secondary Schools Football Association) was also impressed with the teamās current players. āIt felt like it was one big brotherhood there, which appealed to me greatly,ā he said.
Standing at 6ā0, 195lbs, Kyoya has had the chance to represent his province on a few occasions. In 2014, he was a Royals team MVP. In 2012 and 2016, he was awarded the Joe Bell award. He was also a Red River Cup MVP and won an International Bowl game against Team USA while with Team BC.
Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
