Langley Rams head coach St. James resigns: Alamolhoda takes over reigns

The Langley Rams Junior Football Club is pleased to announce that Jeff Alamolhoda has been promoted to the position of Head Coach for the 2011 Canadian Junior Football League season.

Alamolhoda was brought into the Rams program as a defensive coordinator by former Head Coach Tyson St. James, who has recently resigned from his position.

Jeff is a native of Langley and grew up playing within the Langley Minor Football organization; he attended Langley Senior Secondary and graduated from Garibaldi Secondary in Maple Ridge.

Alamolhoda brings an extensive Junior Football background to the Rams program, as a player and most importantly as a coach.

Jeff spent the past three seasons as the number two man, and defensive coordinator, of the Chilliwack Huskers Junior Football program, prior to that was on the staff of the Prairie Football Conference’s Winnipeg Rifles Junior Football program, where he helped out as a linebacker coach while attending the University of Manitoba.

Alamolhoda enrolled at University of Manitoba in 2003 and started at linebacker in four of the five seasons he was with Brian Dobie’s football Bisons. Alamolhoda finished his stellar CIS career by helping the Bisons win the Vanier Cup National Championship in 2007.

Jeff played Midget football for the Coquitlam Falcons and then joined the BC Junior Football Conference’s Tri-City (Coquitlam) Bulldogs, where he played two seasons (2001, 2002) under the guidance of legendary BCFC Head Coach Nick Kawaza. Alamolhoda was selected to the BCFC All Star team and was honoured as the Conference’s most outstanding linebacker both seasons. In 2002 Jeff was selected as the BCFC Defensive Player of the Year and was a nominee for the Canadian Junior Football League’s Defensive Player of the Year Award.

Jeff teaches life skills to high risk youth at an Alternate High School in Maple Ridge and is a resident of Langley where he and his wife Lisa are raising their 18 month old son Darius.

Langley Rams president Gord Querin was very happy that Alamolhoda agreed to take on the Head Coaching duties, β€œJeff is a good coach and comes highly recommended, his energy and junior football experience will be a great asset to our football club” said Querin, who thinks that the team was fortunate to be able to find a replacement for the highly regarded St. James from within the current staff at this crucial time of the year β€œWe are very lucky that Tyson brought a quality guy like Jeff into our program, the fact that Jeff has been actively recruiting and involved in our team training sessions will make the transition into the position of Head Coach relatively seamless, for him and for the football club” added Querin.

The Rams Junior Football Club moved to Langley this year after almost 60 years of operations in Surrey.

The newly named Langley Rams are scheduled to kick-off the 2011 Canadian Junior Football League season on July 30 at McLeod Park Stadium with a game versus the defending BC Champion VI Raiders of Nanaimo.

The full official BCFC schedule will be released next week and will be posted right here at LangleyRams.com
