Laurier coaches ‘are amazing’

Laurier adds three Toronto area commits to their 2019 class.

Kelon Thomas, a defensive end from the Toronto Thunder (OFC), will see a lot of familiar faces on the Laurier Golden Hawks.

Jacob Benjamin, a linebacker from the Toronto Thunder, and Omari Hastings, a defensive tackle from Football North Clarkson, will also be joining the Golden Hawks.

Kelon Thomas

Kelon Thomas knows a thing or two about the Golden Hawks. He said he chose to commit to the school because it’s “close to home, coaches are amazing and (there’s) a lot of former teammates (that) attend that school and play on that team,” he said.

Thomas, who is 6’5, 215lbs, added that the coaches are “really nice. They approached me (and their) communication is really strong.”

Thomas has been playing football with the Toronto Thunder for seven years. The product of Scarborough, Ontario, was rookie of the year in his first year of senior football. He is interested in kinesiology or sports medicine.

Jacob Benjamin

Jacob Benjamin also played for the Toronto Thunder and is from Scarborough. He was a member of West Toronto Prep in 2018. Standing at 6’1, 232lbs, he has played as a running back and middle linebacker.

Omari Hastings

Omari Hastings is from Toronto, Ontario, where he has played football for over five years. He has been with Football North Clarkson since 2015. Before that he was a member of the Metro Toronto Wildcats (OPFL) and the Central Tech Blues (TDSB). He is 6’3, 275lbs.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
