In 2013, Luca was the recipient of the Coach’s Award and was named to Team British Columbia in 2014.

Heading into his senior season with the Knights, Luca wants to take on more of a leadership role with the team.

“My goals for this coming season is to have a major role in my final year,” adds Luca. Ā “I would definitely like to lead the team by being a captain and be a great leader, I also plan to lead the team to a championship.”

Luca started playing linebacker due to his coach’s decision.Ā  Since taking on that role Luca has responded and looks forward to certain aspects the position brings.

“The linebacker position was assigned to me by my coach,” says the Knights standout. Ā “It’s a position that I really enjoy because I love the contact and the intensity.”

Luca’s highlight from last season came in the team’s semi-final game against Mount Douglas Rams.

“This was a great game between both teams though it ended in a bad outcome for us our team played very well,” says Luca. Ā “This was one of my best games.”

In Luca’s life, there have been several people who have provided an influence to the student-athlete.Ā  However, when talking about the people who have influenced Luca the most, look no further than his parents and football coaches.

“The most influential people in my life are my parents,” says Luca. Ā “They have always supported me in my game.”

“My coaches have also influenced me and pushed me to be a better player by believing in me.”

Several programs have contacted Luca regarding education and playing the sport at their respective schools.Ā  Carleton, Alberta University, Simon Fraser (NCAA Division 2), Queens and McMaster have all reached out to Luca at some point during the recruitment process.

So far Luca has noted that the experience of being recruited has been positive.Ā  When Luca graduates from high school and moves on to university, Luca does plan on studying business.Ā  At the next level of football, Bellini is expecting the CIS competition to intensify a great deal due to the top tier talent in the country.

In order to prepare for the upcoming season, Luca wants to increase his overall speed and strength.Ā  To accomplish these goals, Luca trains five times a week with an Air Raid Academy, and will continue to do so until the season arrives.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
