Adam Guillemette has plenty of time to reach his goals.

The linebacker is set to transfer to the Loomis Chaffe school in Connecticut and begin his journey to achieve the goal of playing at the next level.

Having only been playing the sport of football for five years, Guillemette has progressed at a rather quick level. Starting off with the Cambridge Lions of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL)  he has since moved onto Canada Prep Raiders and will begin next season internationally at the Loomis Chaffee school.

“I am very excited to start there next season and focus on developing my skills as a player,” said the defensive standout.

Guillemette is no stranger to big schools, he stated his highlight of last season was playing for Canada Prep against Wayne High in Huber Heights, Ohio and reminsced about the adrenaline.

“I had never played in front of so many people, around 3000, and I was addicted to the atmosphere of the fans and aggression the American players played with,” said Guillemette.  “Definitely my biggest highlight.”

While he is big in size, Guillemette employs an exhausting regimen to stay in shape.

“I’m currently on a six day training regimen, three days of interval training and three days of lifting,” said the linebacker.  “I’m also in a football season with Cambridge so I get lots of exercise from the conditioning in practices and the long games.”

Guillemette has his parents to thank for motivating him into this type of lifestyle.

“My parents have always been supportive of everything I do, whether it be sports or school. I use that as motivation to work hard and get to the next level,” added the defensive standout.

Guillemette also cites Carolina Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly as inspiration, saying he watches hours of his film to improve his technique and learn something from him.

While he has no plans yet, he has been talked to by a few CIS schools and that should continue to happen with his improvement in the States. Being a 2019 grad will help him with his recruiting process and he hopes to get into a good school.

“I’m interested in going to a school with a talented football program while also having good academics. I hope to get into a science program of some kind and hope football will be a tool for me to attend a school with a good program.”

Short-term, Guillemette hopes to improve his on-field awareness and football IQ and will be exhausting his resources to get better, constantly asking his coaches questions and learning from his teammates. If all goes well, the future will be bright for this Canadian linebacker and should lead to bigger, better things.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
