LB Josh White will roll into his senior season with his eyes on the prize. White will be chasing his first city championship, in what would be the cherry on top of an already impressive high school career. Josh, who suits up for the #CFC50 Campbell Tartans (RIFL) in Regina, Saskatchewan will look to make a statement in his final year with the team.

Alongside Team Saskatchewan teammate Jaxon Ford, White will look to anchor the Tartans defence in the 2017 season. Look for these two super talented players to rack up the stats and make their share of big time plays. Josh will look to lead Campbell back to the Schwann Conference Championship, a game they failed to appear in last season.

The Tartans were ousted in the league semi finals by the Riffel Royals, who ended up falling short to Saskatchewan’s powerhouse, the Leboldus Golden Suns. In order to be lifting the trophy in November, Campbell will need to get past the Suns in 2017, a difficult yet possible challenge. The linebacker will need to shutdown #CFC100 QB Josh Donnelly, in what will be a clash of two of Saskatchewan’s titans.

White is a two-time silver medalist at the Canada Cup while representing Team Saskatchewan. The linebacker lists those medals as the biggest accomplishments of his young career to date. His performance at the 2017 edition of the tournament was beyond impressive. Josh seems to make an impact on almost every play of every game.

“I like playing linebacker because it’s one of the most involved positions in football, you’re either reading your gap and defending the run or dropping back in pass coverage”.

He’s as sure of a tackler as you’re going to find at the high school level, a talent that sets him apart from the rest. While Saskatchewan may have fell short in Nova Scotia this summer, White’s contributions didn’t go unnoticed.

When asked about a professional player that he aims to resemble, Josh listed Luke Kuechly. Kuechly is a big, physical player who’s afraid of absolutely nobody. When watching White’s highlight tape, you see those traits in the Campbell product. He is very strong in both pass coverage and against the run, and always seems to end up making big time plays in key stages of football games.

While he has his eyes locked in on his upcoming senior season, Josh’s football career has great potential to extend past high school.

He’s recently started the recruiting process and lists the University of Saskatchewan and the University of Regina as his top two choices. However, White is keeping his options open to whatever may arise. He is looking forward to the challenges that come with U-Sports football. However, he believes he’ll be ready to handle them successfully. Ever since getting into football in grade 6, he’s had a passion for the game.

“Football is the most important thing in my life” shares White. He has an extremely evident passion and understanding for the game, traits that will surely help him as he’ll look to make the jump to the next level in 2018. His high football IQ will also allow him an easier transition to which ever route he chooses to pick.

“I’m looking forward to taking in all of the knowledge and information possible to prepare me for next year.” he adds.

Look for the senior linebacker to make a big impact on every Tartans game this season. Be prepared to hear the name “Josh White” for many years to come around Canadian football.
