Les Géants WR joins McGill Redmen

McGill brings in local commit to their Class of 2017.

Benjamin Juteau-Leroux, a wide receiver from Cégep St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, is ready to take his education, and his football, to the next level with the McGill Redmen.

Being a bilingual person is a difficult task, but it’s a challenge that hasn’t put Juteau-Leroux off. “(Going to McGill) is a good opportunity for me because now I’m not very comfortable with my English,” he said.

But, he will have plenty of people to practice his English with. “Every guy I met with on the team is cool and smooth. I love the atmosphere,” he said. “I think the program has a nice future.”

The future of a program starts with the coaching staff at hand. Juteau-Leroux is ready to develop further under the care and guidance of McGill’s coaching staff. “They are young with a huge football past. They are determined to hold a trophy and I know they are going to do everything to make me and all the team better every week,” he said.

The future Physical Health and Education student originally played as a quarterback for five years with Les Scorpions de l’École secondaire Armand-Corbeil (RSEQ). He attended the high school is his hometown of Terrebonne, Québec, which is in Laval. When he joined Les Géants du Cégep St-Jean-sur-Richelieu (RSEQ Division 1), the 5’11, 190lbs athlete played three years as a receiver.

Juteau-Leroux said he would like to thank this coach, François Cajelais from Armand-Corbeil, because he believed in him in the years he played in high school and cégep. He also would like to extend thanks to coaches Alex Surprenant, P-O Brunet and Phil Leduc. “They gave me the key of success in football and in my life with seriousness and in my teammates who worked with me,” Juteau-Leroux said.

Along with his coaches, he has another group of supporters he would like to thank. He said, “A big thank you to my family because they never miss one of my football games. They are always there to encourage.”
