Les Géants WR ready for new team, Laval Rouge et Or

Laval picks up a motivated and driven commit from Québec.

Hugo Dupuis, a wide receiver from Cégep Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, is ready to tackle football at the U Sports level and he will be using his new team, the Laval Rouge et Or, as his entry point into the league.

Playing football is about constantly challenging yourself to be better. Dupuis understands this. He said that, “I committed to Laval because I saw here the best opportunity to increase myself and be the best player that I can be.”

He added that, “I think that Laval has one of the best or the best coaching staff in the country and that is why I trust them and believe that they are going to develop me into a very good player.”

The three-year member of Les Géants du Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu (RSEQ Division 1) is planning on becoming a physical education teacher himself. Prior to his time with Les Géants, he played with Les Scorpions de l’École secondaire Armand-Corbeil (RSEQ) for five years.

In 2014 and 2015, while Les Géants were in the collegial division 2, Dupris helped his team to back-to-back Bol D’Or championship. In 2015, he was named as an all-star. This year, Les Géants advanced to division 1 and held a respectable .500 record.

In 2013, the 6’2, 205lbs product of Terrebonne, Québec, a community north-east of Montréal, was named Les Scorpions’ offensive MVP. The year prior, he was the rookie of the year.

With his new career spanning before him on the horizon, Dupuis took a moment to look back. “Just want to say that if it wasn’t for Coach Alex Surprenant, I would not be here today,” he said.
