Ozzie Braff rushed for 94 yards and one touchdown for a 6.3 yard per carry average, according to coach Ed DePriest. Taylor Tompke threw a 50 yard pass to Reed Bennett and also had an interception on defense. Alek Lopez rushed for one touchdown.

Lethbridge, with linemen ranging in weight from 240 to 290 pounds, outweighed the Badgers by 50 to 75 pounds in many positions, including a fullback weighing 250 pounds.

The Badgers team is short-handed due to lingering eligibility issues and the depth at certain positions is proving to be challenging.

β€œIt is obvious that we need to find a way to get pressure on the quarter back so our defensive backs aren’t forced to cover for long periods of time,” said DePriest. β€œBut with a team the size of Lethbridge, it is hard to penetrate.”

Coach DePriest said obviously the Badgers want to win each game, but the important games are the league games. He wants to keep the Badgers healthy for the league games and will use the non-league games to develop the depth they are lacking.

β€œWe open our league this Friday with a good St. Maries team which has some very good skill players and better depth than usual,” said DePriest.

The Badgers play their first home league football game against St. Maries, at 7 p.m., Friday Sept. 17.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
