Limestone Classic touch football tournament this weekend in Kingston


The 32nd annual Limestone Classic touch football tournament runs Saturday and Sunday at parks around Kingston.

The event, part of the Touch Football Ontario Trillium Tour, features 48 men’s teams, 24 women’s squads and more than 1,000 players from Ontario and Quebec.

Teams are made up of current and former Canadian Football League (CFL), Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS), Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA), European tackle players, Team Canada Touch and Team Canada Flag players. Notable players who have participated in the Limestone Classic in the past include Jesse Lumsden, Cory Greenwood, Rob Bagg, and Danny Brannagan.

β€œThis is a great opportunity for Kingston to showcase all the great eateries, shopping, tourism destinations and night life. We would like to welcome all participating teams and families to Kingston for the 32nd Annual Limestone Classic Touch Football Tournament,” says Paul Pennell, President of the KDTFL and Tournament Organizer for the Limestone Classic.

Games will take place on Saturday and Sunday from 8:30am to 6:30 pm. The tournament headquarters will be at Woodbine Park, with the remainder of games occurring at McCullough Park, Caton’s Fields, St. Lawrence College, Regiopolis-Notre Dame and Marker’s Acres. Admission is free to all games.
