As the 2016 recruiting class nears its end, the University of Manitoba adds a local defensive back to the Bison ranks. Keenan Onyebuchi, the 5’10”, 183# DB from Vincent Massey Collegiate, has committed to the Bisons.
“The Vincent Massey Trojans won the ANAVETS bowl this year, champions of the WHSFL AAA league, and Keenan was no small part of that. He was a defensive star and a key leader for a program that capitalized on a lot of young talent. We look forward to him joining our program with his undeniable skillset.” remarked Bison Recruiting Co-Ordinator Chris Clement.
“Securing top local recruits is essential for the long-term success of any CIS program, and we at Manitoba believe that signing Keenan is an important part of that.” says Brian Dobie, Head Coach of Manitoba
Bison Regional Scout Frank Principe believes Keenan has Β a very bright future at his hometown school. “I’m very happy to have Keenan as a Bison. He brings athleticism and leadership to our program and will certainly develop into an outstanding athlete and adult. Keenan was the best safety in the WHSFL and has proven he’s a winner with two straight championships in the WHSFL and MMFL. After getting to know Keenan personally, you can tell he is a confident young man whose ceiling is limitless.”
Keenan is very excited for his upcoming transition to the CIS. “I would like to say thank you to the Bison Β coaches for giving me an opportunity to play for their program! Out of all the recruiting in the past few months, the University of Manitoba has by far one of the nicest facilities and is one of my best options.”
Keenan, the 18th recruit for the Bisons, is the 9th Manitoba player, as well as the second defensive back. His highlights are available atΒ http://www.hudl.com/athlete/3893574/highlights/301052505
