Local product commits to Ravens

Ottawa – Carleton Ravens head football coach Steve Sumarah is pleased to announce that Jeremy Rioux (Gatineau, Quebec) has committed to the program beginning in 2014.

The 6’2β€œ 270 pound defensive tackle is currently enrolled at the CEGEP Outaouais College in Gatineau and just wrapped playing for the Griffons. His team finished the season with a (4-4) record and failed to make the playoffs.

β€œI’m very happy to join the Carleton Ravens football program, it was an easy decision to make,” Rioux stated.

β€œI loved the atmosphere during their home games and was very impressed with the coaching staff, the facilities and the professionalism that surrounds every aspect of the team.”

Rioux will be studying Psychology at Carleton

β€œWe (Ravens coaching staff) are very excited to have Rioux join our program,” said Sumarah.

β€œTo keep a local kid like Jeremy in Ottawa is a great recruiting coup for Ravens football. His physicality and athleticism will make him an impact player right away.”

Rioux was heavily recruited by several other universities including Laval, Ottawa, Sherbrooke, McGill and Acadia.
