Local recruit appealed to recent UBC competitiveness taste

Lander slotback/defensive back joins CWUAA team’s 2015 class.

Tom Franklin is satisfied that he made the best decision for himself when it came to his gridiron and academic future.

The 6ā€™4, 205 pound slotback/defensive back (cornerback) from Lander committed to provincial CIS team, University of British Columbia (UBC) Thunderbirds.Ā  Franklin will join the team for the 2015 CWUAA season.

ā€œIt’s close to home; it provides a fantastic football program and the university as a whole seems great,ā€ commented Franklin on his commitment. ā€œI recently participated in the 2015 UBC spring training camp so I was able to experience the football program and its level of competitiveness on the field.ā€

ā€œIt was certainly a joy to be a part of. I’ve learned so much from the camp and it definitely showed me what to expect.ā€

In 2014, the two-way standout guided the South Delta Sun Devils of the British Columbia High School Football Association (BCHSFA) to their first ever Provincial ā€˜AAAā€™ Championship.Ā  Franklin amassed 504 yards on 25 receptions (average of 42 yards per reception), registered 22 tackles and caught two interceptions.
