Local recruit commits to Dinos

Mountain View lineman joins CWUAA team’s 2016 class

Liam Hinch was flatted by the attention one particular school gave him during the recruitment process.

As a result, the 6’3, 290 pound offensive lineman from Mountain View, Alberta signed with the Calgary Dinos, Ā Hinch will join the team for the 2016 CWUAA season.

HInch selected the Dinos amongst two other finalists – Queen’s Gaels and UBC Thunderbirds.

“The biggest reasons were that they recruited me the hardest, I was able to speak with lots of coaches, I was also able to make it up for a visit and I saw the locker rooms and equipment it is a top notch place,” offered the lineman of the factors that led to his decision. Ā “The university has exactly what i am looking for as far as academics goes.”

“Plus Kevin Tonak, the education guy is great. Also, the fact that such a great university was so close to home so family and friends can come and watch. Plus being born and raised in Alberta it would be hard to leave this awesome province.”

Hinch joins the Dinos after completing his career with Cardston Cougars of the Alberta Schools Athletic Association (ASAA). As captain of the Cougars, the lineman displayed his versatility by playing multiple positions including guard and tackle on both the offensive and and defensive lines. Ā Additionally, he was a nose and tackle on the defensive side.

The lineman was selected as Southern Alberta Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SAIAC) All-Star as chosen via a vote by coaches in the conference.
