Local recruit following family footsteps at SMU

Dartmouth receiver joins AUS team’s 2015 class.

Saint Mary’s Huskies have announced the addition of Morgan Williams to their football program.

The 6’0, 175 pound receiver from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia will join the team for the 2015 AUS season.

For the past three seasons, Williams has played for Prince Andrew Panthers of the Nova Scotia Student Athletic Federation Football League (NSSAFFL). During his time there, the receiver guided the Panthers to the NSSAFFL Provincial Tier 2 Championship in 2013.

“We are extremely happy to add a student athlete like Morgan to the SMU football family,” commented Huskies Head Coach Perry Marchese.

For his part, Williams said his commitment to the Huskies is a childhood dream realized.

“My reason for committing to Saint Mary’s was it has always been a part of my family and always will be,” expressed the Nova Scotia receiver.  “My father and uncle being former players and coaches at Saint Mary’s always kept me around it.”

“My dad Anthony was an All-Canadian receiver and my uncle Andre was an All-Canadian defensive back. I still remember going to the practices with my brother watching while my dad coached the receivers so I was exposed to the school at a young age and have always wanted to be a Husky.”
