Local recruit returns home to join UBC (VIDEO)

North Vancouver quarterback signs with CWUAA team.

Ty Marshall wanted to go to familiar surroundings.

Consequently, the 6’1, 195 pound pivot from North Vancouver, British Columbia committed to the University of British Columbia (UBC).  Marshall will join the team for the 2015 CWUAA season.

“I chose to come to UBC for a few reasons; the main factor being it is close to home and I knew many of the players on the team,” explained the local quarterback.  “The others who committed here last year (in my grad year 2014) are so talented and I was very confident in the program’s future and its ability to win a Vanier Cup.”

Recently, Marshall was south of the border in the hopes of suiting up for the University of Pasadena in California.  However, he didn’t get an opportunity to play for the team.

The pivot completed a stint with Windsor Dukes of the British Columbia High School Football Association (BCHSFA).  In his final season with the team, Marshall completed 138 passes in 210 attempts (65.7 completion rate) for 2101 passing yards, 22 passing touchdowns and only threw three interceptions.  Additionally, he amassed 631 rushing yards and 12 rushing majors.

“It was a very hard decision to leave the U.S. and give up on getting a scholarship to a school in the United States,” added Marshall.  “Although, after everything that has happened, I feel I have made the right decision and look forward to competing in spring and summer to play quarterback for the University of British Columbia.”
