Local recruit saw opportunities at UBC

Salmon Arm lineman joins CWUAA team’s 2016 class.

For Brandon Sanford, he is ready to begin the next phase of his gridiron and academic career.

Recently, the 6’4, 275 pound two-way lineman from Salmon Arm, British Columbia signed with the University of British Columbia (UBC) Thunderbirds.  Sanford will join the team for the 2016 CWUAA season.

“I committed to UBC because I see opportunities,: explained Sanford of his commitment.  “It is a strong program that can get me where I need to go in football and my future; UBC offers not only a great football program, but academics as well.”

“During spring camp I feel I competed well and coaches were pleased. The atmosphere of the team and still being in my home province also pushed me to a strong commitment. I am going in with the goal to play pro eventually, but also to graduate with a degree. Ready for the next step with my life and it starts at The University of British Columbia.”

Among the teams that the lineman has played for during his career include Duchess Park Condors and Salmon Arm Secondary Golds of the British Columbia High School Football Association (BCHSFA).
