The Saint Maryโs Huskies have announced the addition of Ben Ford to their football program.
Ford, the 6โ2, 215 pound lineman from Sackville, Nova Scotia will join the team for the 2015 AUS season.
โWe are extremely happy to have Ben join our football family,โ commented Huskies Head Coach Perry Marchese.
As captain, Ford led the Sackville High Kingfishers of the Nova Scotia Student Athletic Federation Football League (NSSAFFL) to the Provincial Tier 2 Championship this past November.ย In 2014, the lineman registered 18 tackles and recorded three sacks. For his efforts, Ford was selected as an NSSAFFL Tier 2 All-Star at the offensive line position.
Additionally, he guided the Metro Mustangs of the Nova Scotia Indoor Spring League (NSISL) to two consecutive Midget Championships.
โThere were many reasons as to why I committed to Saint Maryโs,โ explained Ford of his decision.ย โThey have a well-known Science program so I knew I would be able to get the schooling I desired.โ
โWhen I was offered the option to play football it became an easy choice. I love football and I knew that after a rough year for SMU, I could help them improve and hopefully reach the top of the AUS once again. It helps that I am now able to play football in my hometown with many of my long time teammates.โ
