Local recruit thrilled to begin CIS career at home with Golden Bears (VIDEO)

Edmonton recruit joins CWUAA team’s 2016 class.

Chris Simonson will begin the CIS chapter of his career at home.

Recently, the 6’2, 260 pound offensive lineman (centre/guard) from Edmonton signed with the University of Alberta Golden Bears. Simonson will join the team for the 2016 CWUAA season.

For the Alberta standout, the Golden Bears possessed the best academic and gridiron situation for him.

“I signed with the Bears because I felt like they would be a great fit for me academically and athletically; their kinesiology program is top notch and I really feel like I can excel in life with a degree from the University of Alberta,” elaborated Simonson.  “Football wise, I feel like they are really on an upswing and I will have a great chance to develop under the coaching they have there and I really want to be a part of the future success they will have.”

“I also love the fact that I will be able to stay at home and family can be a continued priority for me.”
