Local recruit wants to ‘bring a championship back to Windsor’

Windsor defensive lineman signs with OUA team.

Windsor Lancers have announced the commitment of Collin Lesperance to their football program.

The 6’1, 275 pound defensive lineman from Windsor, Ontario will join the team for the 2015 OUA season.

Lesperance has played for both the Holy Names Fighting Knights of the Windsor and Essex County Secondary School Athletic Association (WECSSAA) and Essex Ravens of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL).

“Collin is an outstanding defensive lineman who can plug the middle and control the line of scrimmage,” commented Lancers Head Coach Joe D’Amore.  “He was a dominate player in the OVFL last year and was named Defensive Player of the Year for the Ravens, which says a lot about his abilities.”

“With a number of graduations at the position, we are excited to add a player of his talent.”

For his part, the opportunity to play at the CIS level in his own backyard was too good of an offer for the defensive lineman to pass up.

“I committed to Windsor because I wanted to stay home for my family and friends but ultimately to play football with the same guys I played against or with in high-school and Essex Ravens travel football,” explained Lesperance of his decision.  “I love the program and want nothing more but to bring a championship back to Windsor.”
