LOCHARD, BOUCHER AND DION NAMED QUEBEC PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Running back Pascal Lochard of the Laval University Rouge et Or, defensive back Dave Boucher and kicker William Dion of the University of Sherbrooke Vert & Or have been selected as the Quebec University Football League’s (QUFL) players of the week for the period ending October 31.

Highlights : Running back Pascal Lochard carried the ball 20-times for 187 yards and a pair of touchdowns as the Laval Rouge et Or topped the Concordia Stingers 62-7 in the final game of the regular season. The former Cegep du Vieux Montreal standout averaged 9.4 yards per carry with his longest gain being 78 yards. The Administration student finished the regular season as the RSEQ leader in rushing touchdowns with six.

Highlights : Rookie defensive back Dave Boucher set a new QUFL record by returning a pair of interceptions for touchdowns in Sherbrooke’s 43-8 win over McGill. Late in the second quarter, the multidisciplinary studies student picked off a McGill pass and returned it 50-yards to the end zone and scored his second major of the day just 17-seconds into the third period returning the ball 30-yards to the house. The interceptions were the turning point in the game and helped the Vert & Or overtake the Bishop’s Gaiters for third place in the standings.

Highlights : Kicker William Dion established a new team record by successfully kicking six field goals in one game as the Sherbrooke Vert & Or topped the McGill Redmen 43-8. The history major went six-for-seven on the afternoon, splitting the uprights from 27, 40, 21, 18, 9 and 25 yards out. It was the third best single-game performance in league history.
