Promise of big things

Waterloo & London recruits join OUA team’s 2014 class.

Two Ontario standouts have commited to a provincial CIS team for the 2014 OUA season.

Wide Receiver Brandon Loewen and defensive back Shaquille Sealy are the newest recruits sign with the Waterloo Warriors.

BRANDON LOEWEN:

The 6’3, 200 pound wide receiver from Waterloo, Ontario chose to embark on his CIS career in front of the hometown crowd.

“Some of the main reasons on why I choose Waterloo is for the hometown feel, playing time opportunities, they have academic programs that I’m interested in (recreation and leisure, environmental studies) and the relationship with the coaches that I’ve already gained,” explained Loewen of his decision.

Recently, the offensive standout completed his high school career with Waterloo Collegiate Vikings of the Waterloo County Secondary Schools Athletic Association (WCSSAA).  Additionally, he suited up for Twin Cities Predators of the Ontario Football Conference (OFC).

SHAQUILLE SEALY:

The 6’0, 175 pound defensive back from London, Ontario was hooked after his first recruitment visit with the OUA school.

“I picked Waterloo because it’s one giant family I felt like I was part of it the second I went on my first recruitment visit,” commented Sealy of his choice.  “The Warriors Defensive Backs coach Nial Both was completely honest with me as well as Head Coach Joe Paopao.”

“The players I met, especially fellow defensive backs made me feel at home even when the coaches weren’t around.  I also liked the fact they stressed the importance of academics and provide multiple outlets for me to reach my dream of being a doctor at the University.  It’s not too far from my hometown of London either making it a very good match. Though their record last year may not show it, they are better than a 1-7 team and I know that alongside the other recruits coming in and the core players, I just have a gut feeling we can do big things as Warriors.”

Sealy joins the Warriors after playing for his high school team, London Central Golden Ghosts of the Thames Valley Region Athletic Association (TVRAA). Moreover, he has suited up for the Forest City Thunderbirds of the Ontario Football Conference (OFC)
