The Oakville Longhorns opened the Northern Football Conference season Saturday with a 40-15 loss to the Sudbury Spartans at Bronte Athletic Field.
Longhorns quarterback Mark Demerling threw touchdown passes to Mike Dingsdale and Greg Slocum after Sudbury scored the first 33 points of the contest. Eric Dowling scored a two-point conversion and Tom Wighton kicked a rouge.
The Longhorns have a bye this weekend and return to action June 11 in North Bay.
