Tier Two Senior

Wednesday, October 19th

Uxbridge 15, Ajax 8
Lee Cowie’s five yard run with 1:18 remaining enabled the Tigers to preserve their perfect season with their fifth win in five starts.

Trailing by one, the Tigers gave the ball to Cowie who scampered five yards for his second touchdown of the game. Cowie recorded all 15 scoring points as he kicked one convert and added a two pointer on his fourth quarter major. The Rams, now 3-2, had overcome an early 7-0 deficit as Brad Benedetto scored on a two yard run with just over two minutes remaining in the opening quarter. Tobin Semple would add the point after to pull the Rams even at seven. Semple’s 29 yard field goal attempt with 21 seconds remaining in the first quarter was wide however the Tigers were unable to get the ball out of the end zone giving Ajax with a one point lead. The game then turned into a defensive battle setting the stage for Cowie’s fourth quarter heroics.

Port Perry 26, Bowmanville 0
In a tightly played defensive game the Rebels held a slim 6-0 after three quarters of play with only Arthur Strahl reaching the end zone. In the final quarter, the Rebels exploded for three touchdowns over a tired and short benched Talon squad to pick up their first win of the season 26-0. Kuwayne Moore increased the half time lead to 12-1 with a 44 yard touchdown pass reception with only eight seconds remaining to the half. Following a scoreless third quarter, the two teams exchanged touchdown as Moore, on a pass and run play, took the ball 66 yards to the house while Ibrahim Frank-Banda replied for the Cougars with a 57 yard run.
