Luketa: “My reaction to receiving my first offer was indescribable” (VIDEO)

Despite adversity, Jesse Luketa was determined to make his utlimate gridiron dream become a reality at the next level.

This past Tuesday, he succeeded in his quest.  The 6’3, 210 pound strong safety/outside linebacker from Ottawa, Ontario received his first offer from Kentucky Christian University Knights:

“My reaction to receiving my first offer was indescribable; anyone close to me will understand why,” expressed Luketa.  “After overcoming a broken ankle last year, I vowed to return a much better dedicated athlete.”

The Class 2018 recruit began his ascension with the South Ottawa Mustangs of the National Capital Amateur Football Association (NCAFA).

“It’s phenomenal program run by volunteers that came to the aid of kids who are living in government housing,” added Luketa of the Mustangs program.  “Giving them the opportunity to play the beautiful game of football.”

Luketa would eventually move on to suit up for the bantam Cumberland Panthers of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL). After bantam, the Ottawa native competed for two seasons with the junior varsity Panthers under the instruction of coaches Ian Michel, Carlos Blizzard and Cheelor Lindor.

Moreover, Luketa played for St. Patrick Fighting Irish of the National Capital Secondary School Athletic Association (NCSSAA).

However, his journey was derailed by an ankle injury last year and worked hard to get back in action.  Once he got the clearance, he joined Pennsylvania prep team, Mercyhurst Lakers where he thrived on the field and in the classroom.

Now with his focus on the recruitment process, the journey is only beginning for Luketa and will take his time before making a final decision on where he will continue the next chapter of his career.

“My recruitment will stay open until the end of my junior season and verbally commit to a program I feel is the best fit for me academically and athletically,” offered Luketa.
