Manitoba Non-Contact Week 1

Sunday October 4, 
Week 1 of the Recruit Ready 7v7 league kicked off this Sunday at Murray Field, and it certainly didn’t disappoint. 

12 Teams from across the province hit the field featuring all the top players, CFC 100’s, college prospects and college commits from across Manitoba. The competition was extremely high and there was plenty of energy in the air. It was clear that Winnipeg football fans missed their football and were ready to watch again. 
 
University of Manitoba Bison head coach Brian Dobie was on hand to perform the inaugural coin flip to kick things off! 

Offensive Player of the Week: 
XL Trojans QB Jordan Hanslip β€™21 showed poise and tremendous accuracy on the day. He accumulated 9 touchdowns, 0 interceptions and won the offensive player of the week. 

Defensive Player of the Week: 
Pirates and Recent U of Manitoba Commit DB Jake Nitychoruk β€˜21 was all over the field. Jake had had 3 interceptions numerous knock downs and 3 touchdowns on Offence. 

The league will fire back up next Sunday between 6-9pm. 
 
Here is a quick rundown of Sunday action: 

XL Trojans- 2-0 
Led by CFC 100 QB Jordan Hanslip ’21, Trojans went 2-0 on the day. Hanslip who holds multiple offers was unstoppable throughout the day. Offensively CFC 150 RB Negus Lewin (Expect Commit News from him this week), Jibu Nimwara ’21(CFC 100), Payton Lake ’21 and Trey White ’21. On Defense the Trojans are led by one of the top LB in the nation with Jason Rushatsi ’21 (CFC 100) and DB Yuron mirkin ’21 (Holding Offers) 
 
Team White- 2-0 
Defense was the name of the game for Team White. Going 2-0 on the day, the D was led by DB Trae Tomlinson ’21 (CFC 100/currently hold NCAA D1Offers), DE/LB Zach Lytle ’21(CFC 100/ Holds NCAA D1 Offers) and Nic Pierera ’21(CFC 100/ holds numerous offers). Youngster and up and coming star Safety Prospect Dillano Glaud β€™23 had a INT in a strong showing Offensively, Team White was led by WR Theo Karaholios β€™21(CFC 100), WR Jordan Romero and Owen Johnson ’21 who had an eye catching TD grab in game 1. 
 
North β€˜Peg- 2-0 
Was able to battle their way to a 2-0 record on the day. Winning their first game by 1 point vs. RR youth and winning their second game with a last second Hail Mary from QB Richard Legumire ’21 (CFC 100) to Zane Draper ’21. Also on Offence, WR Ryan Bruneau ’22 (CFC 100) who is one of the best Rec in the country had a strong day snagging the ball all OVER the field. Defensively they were led by Manitoba Commit DB Owen Miller β€™21 and long tall athlete Zane Draper ’21 
 
Not SRSS- 2-0 
Steinbach, winning both their games by 1 point, with one of the games going to OT were led by QB and Manitoba Commit Sawyer Theissen β€˜21 came away undefeated on the day. Offensively WR Mula Yitna ’21 (CFC 100) scored 2 big touchdowns, while Manitoba Commit LB Payton Falk ’21was making plays all over the field on both Offence and Defense. 
 
The Pirates- 1-1 
a monster day from Manitoba Commit DB Jake Nitychoruk ’21 (3 Td’s, 3 INT) helped the Pirates to a 1-1 record. The pirates could easily be 2-0 but had a tight overtime loss to Not SRSS. Standing at 6’5, QB Nik Hasselfield ’21 had an impressive day throwing 7 TD passes with 0 INTs. Nik is someone to keep a close eye on as the season progresses.  
 
Dak Boom- 1-1 
Went 1-1, coming with a 1 point loss in the game of the week vs. Team White. This team is LOADED with some big time underclassmen and they didn’t disappoint in week 1. At QB is 2019 WHSFL rookie of the year Caden Calliguri β€˜22. Makai Tyrel ’22 and Dallas Sims ’23 both CFC Top 100 receivers showed why they are regarded as two of the best players in the country. Not to be outdone by, was DT/TE Sean Sevillano Jr ’24. This athletic 3 tech, who projects to be a top ranked player in the ’24 class, had a big day at TE. WR Matt Toyne ’21 (CFC 100) and WR Adam Grieman ’22 round out an imposing and athletic receiving core. 
The defense, was led by LB/DB Dario Macchio ’23 who had an interception, LB Nevan Brown ’23, DB Marcus Wahl ’23 and DB Junior Munyaka ’22, 
 

Brandon Predators- 1-1 
Brandon came out with a ton of energy and intensity to play and it was needed as both their games were 1 score games. WR Tyler Wark had a big day with 3 TD grabs. Dual sport athlete receiver Kenyi Kubari ’21 drew attention from opponents and fans with his impressive frame and play. LB/DL Jacob Doerkson ’22 was a force in the middle of the Brandon D. 
 

Springfield- 1-1 
WR/DB Gage Richey ’21, DB Caleb Kratz ’21 and QB Tommy Walls β€˜22 were a dynamic trifecta in both games. Richey packed the stat sheet with 3 TD receptions and 2 INTs. Kratz was a QBs nightmare with 3 INTs on the day, which was a tie for the end on the day. Walls looked good from the jump and speed the ball around finding 4 different receivers for TDs. Walls is another intriguing QB to keep your eye on in the coming weeks. 
 
Other notable performances- 
 
RR Youth- QB Blake Penner ’25 had a strong day β€œBlake was awesome, He was making great 
decisions all day!” said coach Nic Demski 
 
Knights- DB Owen Casey ’21 had 2 interceptions and a TD catch on the day. He has good size and athleticism. Another Interesting prospect that’s recruiting stock could rise fast 
 
Raiders- Logan Ritchie RB/LB β€™21 was candidate for play of the day with a flashy catch and run for a TD.
