Manitoba Bison Breakdown: Training Camp (Day 7)

The Manitoba Bisons football team completed two-a-day practices at Investors Group Field on Monday on day seven of 2016 Training Camp. The team returned to the field after a day off on Sunday and continues their prep for the pre-season tilt on Friday, August 26 on Vancouver Island.

Star of the Day
Well, it looks like pre-season action is soon approaching. The hits were a little harder as players were jockeying for final positions on the plane to play against UBC and one of the many standouts was starting quarterback Theo Deezar. In his second year as the ‘guy’ on offence, Deezar looked poised and slinging the ball all over the field with authority.

Catch of the Day
There were two catches on this day. Bison slotback newcomer Derek Yachison made a tough catch over the middle in the second practice and received a pop for his efforts. In the first practice, Bison second year slotback Jessie Walker elicit some audible ‘wow’s’ for his over the shoulder catch on a deep ball that he made look effortless.

Dobie Says
“We put a lot on the team over the last while as we threw a lot of knowledge on both defence and offence installation as they also battled hot weather and continued to work hard throughout. I’m sure the players are glad two-a-days are done and now we move into the season and prep for UBC pre-season,” stated Bison Football head coach Brian Dobie.
