Manitoba Bison breakdown: Training camp (Day 8)

The Manitoba Bisons football team ended two-a-day practices on Monday and returned to one practice a day at Investors Group Field on Tuesday on day eight of 2016 Training Camp. The team had to battle some rainy conditions at the end of practice and might mimic the weather when they play pre-season game versus UBC on Friday, August 26 on Vancouver Island.

Star of the Day
The defence was all over the field on Tuesday and a big standout today and throughout camp has been Bison second year defensive lineman Derek Dufault. The Dakota Collegiate star has grown into his role in year two at the CIS level and has been tough to guard as he has been constantly in the face of quarterbacks and running backs.

Hits of the Day
It was defence today. Instead of a catch of the day, there were two hits of the day. Bison third year Jayden McKoy had a solid hit over the middle on Stephen Ugbah that elicit a reaction. Further in practice, Bison recruit Jonathan Bennett had another crunch hit on Liam Grace on the sidelines. .

Dobie Says
“Tonight was good. It was a real good pace and the offence dictates and will push the defence and that was done today. We have to play with that kind of pace on Friday,” said Bison Football head coach Brian Dobie.
