Sometimes good things are worth waiting for, and for McMaster football coach Stefan Ptaszek the wait to get highly touted recruit Tyler OβHenly committed to the Marauders was something he was happy to endure.
Widely considered one of the best offensive line prospects in Ontario, OβHenly made his commitment to the Marauders prior to last week’s McMaster Football Gala, after a thorough process that included him considering recruiting interest from schools across Canada and in the U.S.
McMaster offensive coordinator Jon Behie knows a strong line is the foundation of a successful offense and expects OβHenly to be a key building block. βWe are excited that Tyler has chosen to work towards a degree at McMaster and join the 2013 Marauder recruiting class,β said Behie.Β βHe is a big body who has received excellent coaching throughout his high school and OVFL career.β
Graduating from Mother Teresa Catholic Secondary School in London, his high school coach, Kevin Barnes, is a McMaster alumnus and former player for the Marauder football team.
Standing 6-foot-6 and weighing 290 lbs., OβHenly has been a winner at every level of his football development.Β He played for the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL) Champion London Jr. Mustangs in 2012, and he was also a member of Team Ontario-West that took the bronze medal at the 2012 Canada Cup.
