Markham recruit sprints to Acadia (VIDEO)

Markham running back becomes newest recruit to join AUS team’s 2015 class.

Acadia Axemen has announced the addition of Dale Wright to their football program.

The 5’8, 185 pound running back from Markham, Ontario will join the team for the 2015 AUS season.

Among the teams Wright has previously suited up for include Brother Andre Cardinals of the York Region Athletic Association (YRAA) and Markham Raiders of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL).

“We are proud to announce the latest addition to the Axemen Family in Dale Wright,” commented Axemen Head Coach Jeff Cummins.  “Dale is the kind of student-athlete Acadia is known for and we think he has great things destined for him here at Acadia, both on and off the field.”

“Athletically, Dale’s speed and power are a welcome addition to our growing stable of running backs and we look forward to seeing him on the field come August.”

Ultimately, the combination of academics and football was too good of an offer for Wright to pass up as it provided him an opportunity to succeed in both aspects.

“I decided to go to the Acadia University because it is a very well rounded school,” explained Wright of his decision.  “It is one of the top undergraduate schools in the country and is known for its great community service and a well-known and promoted football tradition.”

“After my visit at Acadia I definitely knew this was the school to be at. The campus was gorgeous, and I believe the small town community oriented atmosphere would definitely help me grow as a person, and focus my academics and football career. The coaches and team as a whole are really eager to win the AUS, and I souls love to be a part of a great team who all share the same dedicated mindset. I also love the fact that the Acadia University has small class sizes in which I would have a chance to get to know my professors and do excel academically. I cannot wait to start my Axemen journey in August.”
