Tyler Munro has overcome considerable adversity off the field while establishing himself as a top prospect in the class of ’14.

At the age of nine Tyler began playing for the Markham Raiders of the COMFL. Playing Linebacker early in his career, Tyler was defensive MVP in his second season with the Raiders as well as receiving defensive MVP honors in the COMFL AA championship game. Tyler would go on to be the Raiders’ overall team MVP in 2007 and win defensive MVP honors once again in 2008.

Tyler played one season with the Toronto Junior Argonauts in the summer of 2008.

In an equally impressive high school career, Tyler received Junior team MVP in 2011 and followed it up with Senior offensive MVP in 2012 representing Bill Crothers Secondary School.

At the young age of ten Tyler lost his greatest influence and biggest fan as his mom tragically passed away. Tyler still cites his mom as his greatest influence on and off the field, “every touchdown, every run, every catch, every play is for her.”

In addition to his mom, Tyler’s older brother Keegan has been instrumental in his career, convincing Tyler to take up the sport as a boy and helping him to develop his game.

Tyler’s favorite football memory was a game during the 2007 season as a member of the Markham Raiders. “During warm up I heard a player on my team say, ‘Tyler cant even score a touchdown’ “. Tyler would prove that player wrong, capping off a long drive that featured Munro extensively with a touchdown plunge, the first of his career. Tyler followed up his first touchdown with 10 more that season in a breakout campaign.

Tyler’s favorite pro is Shamawd Chambers of the Edmonton Eskimos, a wide receiver who, like Tyler, grew up in Markham. “He makes me think that its possible. If he made It why cant I?”

Tyler wants scouts and coaches to know that football is his passion and is constantly working in the pursuit of playing in the CIS.
