McGill bulks up offensive line with new commit

Redmen pick up local recruit on Oct. 28.

The McGill Redmen will turn to new commit Alexandre Landreville, an offensive lineman from CollĆØge Lionel-Groulx, to bring some size and skill to their offensive line.

Landreville is a towering 6ā€™4, 280lbs left takcle who currently plays for Les Nordiques du CollĆØge Lionel-Groulx (RĆ©seau du sport Ć©tudiant du QuĆ©bec Division 2). He currently lives in Blainville, a southwestern suburb of MontrĆ©al.

Landreville has several reasons for choosing McGill. A major component in his decision was his belief in the football program and the coaches. “I believe in those coaches. They proved to me that I can trust them and I think I’ll be able to become a better player thanks to them,” he said.

The young football player also said it was the best choice for him professionally, for his career and his diploma choice. He is going into computer science with a special focus on security.

“It was surely the choice that allows me to stay close to my family, studying in English, have one of the better diploma and to play football,” he added.

Landreville has been playing football for seven years. In 2013, he was awarded an MVP title in the Quebec Minor Football League during his time with the Blainville Wildcats (Association rĆ©gionale de football Laurentides-LanaudiĆØre). In 2015, he was selected to the RSEQ Collegiate Division 2 all-star team.

Despite all of his personal success, Landreville knows he would have had a difficult time without those around him. “I would like to thank all of my coaches that helped me to become the player that I am today! And all the players I played, specially my mate Mounir Kadourri,” he said.

Ron Hilarie, the head coach of the Redmen, posted on Facebook, “Extremely happy to have this young man for the next 5 years on our offensive line. Great student and young man! Best of luck on your playoff run.”
