McGill makes recruiting splash with Boston College transfer

Montreal wide receiver returns home to play in CIS

Yesterday, the McGill Redmen announced the addition of Joel Karim Zoungrana to their football program.

The 6’0, 197 pound wide receiver who is a native Montreal Quebec recently completed his junior season with NCAA Division 1 team, Boston College Eagles.  In the past two years, he did not get any game action.  In 2012, he redshirted his freshman year.

Previous to the Eagles, Zoungrana played for CEGEP Division 1 team, Champlain-Lennoxville Cougars. In 2010, he was named Cougars Offensive MVP and selected as a CEGEP Division 1 All-Star at the return specialist position.

“We are very pleased to welcome Joel to our team,” commented Redmen Co-Coach and Defensive Coordinator Ron Hilaire.  “He is a great young man and we are pleased that he chose to finish is university career with us at McGill.”

“Joel embodies what we want in a football player, takes academics very seriously and has a rare mix of speed and grit which will transfer very well into our football mentality. It’s a great day for Redmen football today!”

With his transfer, Zoungrana will be eligible to play this fall in the CIS.  Moreover, he has two years of CIS eligibility remaining.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
