McGill perfect fit for CEGEP recruit (VIDEO)

CEGEP linebacker newest recruit to join RSEQ team’s 2015 class.

Julien Deschenes will be starting his CIS career in his hometown.

Recently, the 5’9, 196 pound linebacker from Montreal, Quebec committed to the McGill Redmen.Β  Deschenes will join the team for the 2015 RSEQ season.

β€œI committed to McGill because I think it’s the perfect fit for me,” explained Deschenes of his decision.Β  β€œThe academic prestige of the Business School is great, I can stay at home and I think the football program is on the right way.”

β€œRight now, Coach [Ron] Hilaire is doing an awesome job with the recruiting process, and I completely believe in him and the rest of the coaching staff.”

 

Recently, the linebacker completed his CEGEP career with Division 1 team, Edouard-Montpetit Lynx.Β  This past season, he registered 30.5 tackles (23 solo and 15 assisted), two sacks, four tackles for a loss, an interception, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and a safety.

In 2013, he racked up 45 tackles (27 solo, 36 assisted), a sack, three tackles for a loss and an interception.Β  He was named the Lynx’s Most Improved Player that year.
