McMaster commits feel team is right choice

McMaster adds one southern Ontario and one out-of-province commit to their 2019 class.

Cody Thompson, a linebacker from Foothills Composite High School, and Dan Bosett, a running back from North Park Collegiate and Vocational School, are at different points in their career, but both will be getting a shot at U Sports football with the McMaster Marauders.

Cody Thompson

It will be a long flight to Hamilton, Ontario, from his home in Okotoks, Alberta, but Cody Thompson doesn’t mind. “I have a few friends that currently play with McMaster and they have been talking to me abut their experiences and how much they love the team and the school,” he said.

“Talking to the coaches, it seemed like a right fit for me,” he added. “I feel they are a well-rounded coaching staff and it’s going to be a very good fit for me.”

Thompson, who is looking to take either criminology or business, is 6’3, 230lbs. In 2014, he won a provincial championship in wrestling. He was a member of the Calgary Colts (CJFL) in 2014, however his career with the team was cut short due to injury. He joined the Okanagan Sun (CJFL) in 2016 and has been there ever since. Before entering the CJFL, he was a member of the Foothills Composite Falcons (BRL). He has been playing football for 13 years.

Dan Bosett

Dan Bosett won’t be travelling too far to reach his new school. Currently in Brantford, Ontario, he played with the North Park Collegiate Trojans (CWOSSA) and the Brantford Bisons (OFC).

“It felt like home,” Bosett said of McMaster, “and I love the coaching staff and campus. The coaching staff is great.”

Interested in sociology, Bosett was the 2017 OFC league MVP. He also was the Bisons’ and Trojans’ MVP in 2017. He is the 2018 recipient of the OSCA Anthony DiLena Student Pathway award. He stands at 5’9, 190lbs.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
