McMaster locks up Ptaszek to long-term deal

HAMILTON – McMaster’s Department of Athletics and Recreation is pleased to announce the signing of football head coach Stefan Ptaszek to a new long-term contract.

“I am extremely excited to confirm that Stef has agreed to a new contract that will see him at the helm of the Marauder football program,” stated Jeff Giles, McMaster Director of Athletics and Recreation. “He has done a phenomenal job of building this program to the point where it is clearly one of the preeminent in the country, and I look forward to watching as he and his staff add a few more exciting new chapters to the Marauder football legacy in the coming years.”

The new contract extension comes on the heels of the most successful football season in McMaster history, climaxed by last month’s electrifying 41-38 Vanier Cup victory over the powerhouse Laval Rouge et Or.

“This season has been a humbling experience but it’s exciting to know that we get to try and do it again,” said Coach Ptaszek, who just completed his sixth season on the Marauder sideline. “I am thrilled and very appreciative of the confidence being shown in me and our program. It’s been a wonderful journey and I’m looking forward to continuing it with my Marauder family.”

With the high school recruiting season in full swing, this announcement sends a clear message to prospective Marauders that the program will be moving forward under Coach Ptaszek’s leadership and that McMaster University is fully committed to putting a championship contender on the field of Ron Joyce Stadium once again and for years to come.
