McMaster Marauders unveils newest recruits

As preparations for the 2013 OUA season continue, the McMaster football family took some time out from Spring Camp to introduce and welcome the newest crop of players that have committed to don Maroon for their varsity careers. The announcement was made Sunday afternoon at Ron Joyce Stadium, which is where the new Marauders will make their football home for the next 4 to 5 years.

This initial group of 30 recruits will make up the bulk of new blood joining the program this fall. The Marauders will enter the 2013 season as two-time Yates Cup champions and the coaching staff expects this influx of talented players to keep the team in championship contention.
“Playmakers across the board,” is how Marauder Coach Stefan Ptaszek described the group. “We strive to get solid level talent across every position and I’m confident that this group provides that and more!”

Defensive line= 7
Linebackers= 4
Defensive backs= 2
Offensive line= 5
Running backs= 4
Receivers= 4
Quarterbacks= 3
Kickers= 1

The McMaster Football staff continues to mine talent from all over Canada, with 11 recruits that are classified as local from the Hamilton and Halton areas. The other 19 are arriving from the GTA, K-W Region, Barrie, London, Kingston, Campbellford, and one each from British Columbia and Nova Scotia.

Coach Ptaszek anticipates the new Marauders will make an impact very soon. “I’m excited about the quality of student-athletes that are coming to McMaster to join our football family and they will become a positive force on our campus.”
