McMaster’s QB Kyle Quinlan suspended from team

McMaster has enacted its student and athletics codes of conduct in the case of an on-campus incident involving a member of the University’s football team.

As a result, McMaster student Kyle Quinlan, who plays quarterback for the McMaster Marauders, has been suspended from the team.

β€œOur Athletics Code of Conduct is clear in the standards we expect our athletes to uphold,” said Jeff Giles, Director of Athletics and Recreation at the University. β€œWe take that code very seriously and our athletes are all informed about the code and potential consequences when they join one of our teams.”

The incident occurred last weekend outside 1280, the McMaster Students Union pub on campus. After an internal investigation it was determined that action would be taken under the codes of conduct.

A police investigation has simultaneously been underway.

The suspension will continue pending ongoing investigations.

Giles said, β€œQuinlan has been an outstanding member of the football team for the past three years. We know that the rest of the team will miss his leadership and are confident players will continue to work together and maintain their focus on upcoming games.”
