McMaster unveils new crop of recruits (including #CFC100 ranked)

Recent weeks have been an unusually busy time for the McMaster football program, but with the flurry of coaching changes, East-West Bowl participation, and CFL draft selections now in the rear-view mirror, the team is pleased to introduce the 2016 recruits that will don the Maroon and Grey this September.

The group of 30 new players includes 13 from the local Hamilton-Halton area, with the rest coming to McMaster from communities across Ontario, ranging from Ottawa to Windsor.

Assistant Head Coach  and Offensive Coordinator Jon Behie has been tracking the recruitment of the newest Marauders for a long time and is thrilled about the level of talent joining the program.

“This is a terrific group of football players, but also a really good group of guys,” said Behie.  “Having gotten to know them through the recruiting process, I know that they will have success on the football field, but they will also make a positive impact on campus and in the Hamilton community.  It’s going to be fun watching to see where they get to in four years time.”

Despite the fact  he spent the last year coaching in the CFL,  Head Coach Greg Knox is familiar with many of the new players joining the team and is enthused about the young men that have been enlisted.

“This is a great group of student-athletes with tons of potential,” said Knox. “I know I speak for all of our coaching staff when I say that I am excited to work with them and welcome them to our Marauder family.”
