Medhi Abdesmad verbally commits to Boston College (VIDEO)

Mehdi Abdesmad has verbally committed to the Boston College Eagles.

He is the second Canadian this week to commit to BC. Eddie Meredith from St. Andrew’s college in Aurora is the other.

CFC contacted Mehdi to confirm the rumour and he responded by saying “I have verbally commited. I love this program”.

Mehdi has had a spectacular pre-university career. This season he played for the Vieux Montreal Spartiates who were Bol D’or finalists. Mehdi also played for Team World (2010) and Team Canada’s U20 team (silver medalists) that participated in the inaugural World Junior Championship in 2009.

Mehdi broke out on the national scene in the 2008 Football Canada Cup, helping Team Quebec U17 to a gold medal in Sherbrooke. In that tourney he played both middle linebacker and defensive end. Mehdi has settled in on the defensive line and set CEGEP sack records this season.

2010 stats: 45 tackles, 13 assists, 15 sacks, 18 tackles for loss

At 6’6″ Mehdi is an imposing defensive player, accentuated by a very quick first step. We wish Mehdi all the success south of the border.
