Mission, British Columbia’s Tom Clarkson verbals to UNLV Rebels (Video)


Tom Clarkson, from Mission, B.C., has verbally committed to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas Rebels football team for the 2012 season. The big offensive tackle, standing 6’6″ 290 lbs., impressed the coaches at UNLV enough for them to offer a scholarship which Clarkson excepted. The Mission Secondary School (MSS) student will be the first ever FBS scholarship football athlete from the school.

Clarkson was recognized last year, his grade 11 year, as the schools top lineman. As well, he earned all-star recognition in the AA Mainland conference.

His father Larry Clarkson was a B.C. Lion and San Francisco 49ers in the late 1980s. He played his college football at FBS school the University of Montana.

Tom has been coached by Jim Pearce, Kevin Watrin and Danny Jakobs.

“I felt really at home and I really liked the campus. It was my favourite school,” Clarkson told the Abbotsford-Mission Times.
