JAMES FLEMMING:

The 6’0, 195 pound slotback/safety from Belleville, Ontario decided on the Gee-Gees for several different reasons.

β€œI committed to Ottawa because it felt like the right place to be,” explained Flemming of his decision.Β  β€œI feel like I’ll be transferring from one brotherhood to another.”

β€œI have a few former teammates from high school that go there and the guys on the team that I met made me feel like I was a part of them. I was also a fan of the young coaching staff that was determined to win and they reminded me of my own coaches. I feel like I’ll also be able to make an early impact with this team, it is on the rise and I want to be part of something exciting. I also want to get into teaching in the future, and Ottawa has a good teacher’s college that I could apply for and still be able to play football without moving cities, which is a huge bonus. The campus was great and it’s hard to get much better than the downtown of our nation’s capital.”

JEFF RADFORD:

The 5’11, 240 pound defensive lineman/linebacker from Belleville, Ontario issued the following statement regarding his commitment to the Gee-Gees:

β€œIt was a hard choice for me but in the end I committed to Ottawa because I felt like it is where I belong.”

β€œIn my heart I knew that it would suit me best and that feeling is what led me to the decision.”

β€œI feel like Ottawa is a brotherhood, the same one that we have at Moira and that was a huge factor for myself because I want to be involved in a tight knit group not only on the field but off and I got that vibe when I visited. I also have a few former teammates from high school that go there so I was able to get a grasp of the program from their personal experience which was helpful.”

β€œI was able to meet a few of the guys on the team during the tour and they made me feel like I was already a part of the team and were very humble.”

β€œA huge factor in my decision was the young coaching staff of Ottawa. It was evident that they still had the fire in them from when they were on that field and I knew that those are the kind of coaches I need to help me be at my best. The team is on the rise and I want to be part of something that has extremely high expectations in the future hoping to contribute to the success.”

β€œSchooling at Ottawa seems to fit my type of learning style which is great and the coaches let me know that they would be helping me along the way. By applying to general social sciences first year I feel like I will be able to get a good idea of the work load that I need to balance with football without being overwhelmed.”

β€œAs for the campus, I plan on rooming with a few friends from my school in an apartment style residence so I feel I will be at home during my exciting up and coming years as a Gee-Gee.”
